On December 28, 2002, at approximately 11:30 p.m.,
the Saint Joseph College baseball team and community suffered
its worst loss in school history. That loss was Mr. Brandon Hardy:
a son, brother, friend, teammate, and an All-Conference and All-Region
Baseball Player. Brandon Hardy was a person with great intensity
and excellent knowledge in both the game of baseball and the
game of life. He graduated in the spring of 2002 from SJC with
a degree in Psychology and a minor in Management, in which he
earned over a 3.0 grade point average. After graduating from
college, Mr. Hardy had the opportunity to play out a red-shirt
season. He already had his degree in hand and was a college graduate
with a great future in psychology. That was not good enough for
Brandon. His ultimate goal was to help SJC win its first NCAA
Division II National Championship, and to better his chances
in reaching his life long dream of becoming a professional baseball
player.
This fall and winter Brandon was well on his way to achieving
both of his goals. He was bigger, faster, and stronger than we
had ever seen him. Watching him trying to reach his goals- twenty-four
hours a day- was a breath-taking event. Brandon will not be on
the field with us physically, but he has left behind a work ethic
and intensity that will never leave our hearts and our minds.
Thanks for the memories. You will not be forgotten...
